Kudelstaart: Westeinder Lake Village South of Aalsmeer
The Westeinderplassen, one of the largest lakes in the Randstad, wraps around Kudelstaart's western and southern edges. This makes the village of about 9,250 residents a watersports location within easy reach of Amsterdam and Schiphol. Sailing clubs, boat moorings, and waterside terraces line the shore. Kudelstaart is part of the gemeente Aalsmeer in North Holland.
The village grew from a small agricultural settlement into a residential community, particularly after the construction of new housing estates from the 1970s onward. The old centre around the Kudelstaartseweg retains some original character. The proximity to Schiphol airport, about 5 kilometres north, brings both convenient transport connections and aircraft noise. Aalsmeer's flower auction, the largest in the world, operates just to the north. Amsterdam is roughly 15 kilometres northeast.
