Noordwijkerhout: Bulb Village Between Lisse and the Coast
Bulb fields flowering in spring surround Noordwijkerhout on all sides, placing the village squarely in the Bollenstreek between the dune coast and the polders. The NH Leeuwenhorst conference centre, built on a former monastery site, is one of the largest conference venues in the Netherlands. The Keukenhof garden in Lisse is minutes away. The Langevelderduin nature area, part of the coastal dune system, lies to the west.
Bulb cultivation and related trade remain central to the economy alongside the conference sector. The centre around the Dorpsstraat and the Sint-Jozefkerk retains its village atmosphere.
Noordwijk is about 4 kilometres west. Lisse lies roughly 4 kilometres south. Leiden is approximately 12 kilometres east.
